I have spent over thirty years working with youth and families; as a youth worker, a Special Education Assistant, an elementary and middle school teacher, and finally a middle school vice principal. As well, raising my own children has provided a deeper and personalized understanding. Much of my work was focused on building relationships with youth and understanding their experiences and perspectives. Along the way, I also had the pleasure of working with the families of these youth. These opportunities have given me a special niche to understand and empathize with many of the roles in families, as individuals and as a family unit. I have a unique ability to connect with youth and the issues they are facing today. I understand that their challenges are real, can feel big and overwhelming, and leave them feeling misunderstood or isolated. I work with clients to explore these areas together, discover alternate perspectives, and consider how our thoughts can help or hurt us.
